Workington entertained two special guests at Saturday’s match with Bootle – and the pair enjoyed the VIP treatment despite the 1-0 defeat for the Reds.
Billy Baker and his grandson Dylan were thrust into the world spotlight when photographer Gary McKeating highlighted their steadfast loyalty to the cause last month.
The pair were snapped together on a deserted Derwent End terrace under an umbrella as the rain lashed down horizontally in the game with Prescot Cables.
Gary’s picture on social media went viral with over four million views, and in recognition of their resilience and support for the club, they were guests at Borough Park.

Billy has been a lifelong fan of the Reds and he takes young Dylan – a member of Workington Juniors Under-9s squad – to all the home matches.
One of the highlights was meeting Workington manager Danny Grainger and even the winning Bootle goal had some consolation for young Dylan – he had the winning golden goal ticket!

They were presented with a framed photo which had been taken by Gary on the day that a grandfather and his grandson evoked so many memories in the wider world football family.
