Barrow Raiders coach Paul Crarey has blamed lapses in defence for his side’s second home defeat in the Betfred Championship.
The south Cumbrians lost 36-16 to Sheffield Eagles at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium after the opening week’s 24-4 reversal to Toulouse.
Crarey wasn’t ducking any issues and has admitted his side didn’t do enough to deserve anything from the Sheffield game.
He said: “There were periods where we did take control, but then we let go. It was a high-quality game apart from some lapses in defence from us.
“I think we had five good ball sets, scored off two, dropped the ball on play one twice and on play three on the last one.
“We’re not consistent with what we’re doing. Everyone is looking at everybody else and we need to take some accountability in terms of individual forced errors.”
Despite the result, Crarey believes there were some signs of improvements from his squad following their defeat to Toulouse Olympique.
The Raiders share bottom spot with newly-promoted Keighley and Whitehaven as they head to Swinton next week for a key game.
The Lions were forecast to be relegation fodder alongside Whitehaven but picked up an excellent win on Sunday at Batley.
Swinton have two important clashes with Cumbrian opposition in successive weeks as they visit Whitehaven on February 26.
