Workington Comets rider Charles Wright and Tom Brennan have signed up for the Ben Fund Bonanza at King’s Lynn on March 25.

Both are former British champions with Wright winning the senior title on a memorable night at Belle Vue in 2019 whilst Brennan became British Under-21 Champion in 2021 after a series of Youth successes earlier in his career.

Both riders scored 12 points in their last appearances in the Bonanza – Brennan at Peterborough last year, and Wright at Leicester in 2019.

Wright, now 34, spent four seasons with the Comets, and knows from personal experiences how important the Benevolent Fund is for riders.

“I’m a massive supporter of the Ben Fund, they’ve helped me out and anything I can give back I will, it’s obviously a good cause.

“I’ve had surgery on my shoulder during the winter, it’s what has been needed over the last couple of seasons but now I am back to full fitness. I can’t wait for the season.”

Brennan added: “The Ben Fund continues to support riders who have been unfortunately injured, so it’s good to be part of something that supports that and to keep the Ben Fund going. For me it’s an honour to be in the meeting.

“In 2019 I broke my leg in two places and I was out for the majority of the season. The Ben Fund were amazing and helped me tremendously. Even guys that have retired from the sport are still getting help from the Ben Fund.”
