Two new bars are getting ready to open their doors in former Workington nightlife venues.

Chasers Bar on Washington Street and Dukes Bar on Wilson Street are set to be transformed into new establishments in the coming months.

Chasers Bar is set to be fully renovated into a Bees Knees cocktail bar by the owners of Phoenix Tap in Maryport.

On social media the new owners said: “We are coming to Workington… After taking the “Top Tap” in Maryport we have fallen in love with the area.

“We have bought the Chasers bar in Workington and are fully refitting the venue into Bees Knees. We will show all live sports and serve great cocktails.”

The cocktail bar is set to be the first of the chain to open in Cumbria – with other venues found in Manchester and Lancashire.

Workington’s Dukes Bar is also set to be changed into a new venue.

Paul Mcgee, owner of Eden and the Hungry Caterpillar in Workington, is currently renovating the bar into ‘Leos’ – a new nightlife spot.

He said: “Opening soon in Workington…Leos. Sky sports, DJs and… funky Sunday? Spread the word folks.”
