WATCH: Vote for video made in memory of Cumbrian farmer Hannah Brown

A member of the Cumbrian farming community is asking people to support a cause close to her heart.

Dorn Richardson, of Dufton, is asking people to vote in the Charity Films Award scheme for a campaigning video she played a key role in creating.

The video was made by the Sepsis Trust and features a number of people from the Eden area who speak about their own experiences of the infection, which kills around 48,000 people in the UK each year — including many members of the farming community who dismiss injuries they suffer as being unimportant.

One of those hit by sepsis was livestock farmer Hannah Brown, the fiancée of Dorn’s son Ben, who died of the condition in 2021, leaving behind her a wide circle of family and friends.

This prompted Dorn and many others who knew and loved Hannah to support the Sepsis Trust, which works to increase awareness of the condition.

As a result, the charity launched a rural campaign based around the video, which was released last year to coincide with what would have been Hannah’s 28th birthday.

The video has now made it through to the final of the Charity Films Award scheme, which is partly decided by a public vote. Voting closes at midnight tomorrow, March 10.
