Penrith miss out on game due to weather

Penrith missed out on a Northern League game yesterday when their home game with Heaton Stannington was postponed.

The Frenchfield pitch was declared unfit and the clash with Heaton Stannington – promoted last season with Carlisle City – will be rearranged for later in the season.

Darren Edmondson’s men go into action again on Wednesday when they travel to the west of the county to take on Whitehaven in the Fred Conway County Cup semi-final.

A 2-0 win at Wyre Villa in the West Lancashire League yesterday was the perfect tonic for Whitehaven ahead of their Cup showdown with Penrith.

The other semi-final is between Workington Reds and holders Carlisle City which is still waiting for a confirmed date.

The draw has been made for the semi-finals of the Sunday County Cup in which Northside are the sole representatives from the west of the county.

Northside, who collected the quadruple in the Workington Sunday League last season, are looking to land the one trophy that eluded them – the County Cup.

In the semi-final they will host Scotby and in all-Carlisle semi-final holders Inter Pirelli visit Denton Holme. Both ties will be played on April 2.
