Wath Brow Hornets Challenge Cup adventure was ended by Batley Bulldogs.

The Cumbrian amateurs were beaten 60-0 by the Championship side who dominated from the start.

Wath Brow had the advantage of Mount Pleasant’s notorious slope in the first-half but they couldn’t make it pay and at half-time trailed 26-0.

Batley, who had been determined to make a fast, positive start scored five tries – three of them converted.

Josh Hodson, back in the side after injury, scored two and also set up one for Dale Morton after palming back a high kick.

Adam Gledhill had set Batley on their way and Ben Kaye also crossed.

It was hard going up the hill for the Hornets but they stuck at it gamely against a big, powerful Batley side.

The Bulldogs added six more tries in the second, five of which were converted.

Hodson took his tally to four tries for the day with a second-half brace and also getting over were Ben White, Morton, Kieran Buchanan and Oliver Burton.
