Train firms are urging people to check before they travel as strikes hit the county again this week.
RMT and Aslef have held a series of strikes since last summer disputing pay, job cuts and changes to terms and conditions.
This week’s strike action by RMT is set to take place on Thursday 16 and Saturday 18, with further disruption expected to services on Friday 17 and Sunday 19.
Further strikes are also set to take place on Thursday 30 and Saturday April 1, with further disruption on Thursday 31 and Sunday April 2.
Affected train companies include Northern, Avanti West Coast and Transpennine Express.
On Northern’s website, the firm said on strike days there will be very limited services running with some stations offering no services. Trains will be busy and finish earlier.
It added rail users should check journey planners and plan ahead as services across the country may be affected.
Transpennine Express will only be able to operate a handful of services on each date and is urging customers to avoid travel unless their journey is essential.
Kathryn O’Brien, customer service and operations director said: “This upcoming strike action by RMT will once again have a big impact on rail customers right across our network, and we will only be able to operate a small number of trains across certain routes.
“The days after each strike will also be affected and so anyone planning rail travel between 16-19 March and 30 March–2 April should seek alternative means and only make journeys if they are absolutely essential.”
Those affected by the disruption to services may be entitled to compensation.
