Over 50 Cumbrian schools have been affected by the latest round of strikes.
Teachers and support staff are striking over pay today and tomorrow. Members of the National Education Union are walking out as part of nationwide industrial action.
The union is demanding a fully-funded, above inflation pay rise, but the Government says it is unaffordable.
The two days of action follow regional strikes two weeks ago, which saw over 60 schools across Cumbria affected – either by closing fully or having to partially shut.
The union represents teaching staff, which also includes further education lecturers, support staff, teaching assistants and supply and agency teachers.
Its members also include staff working in education support services, alternative education provision settings, and early years.
The NEU is demanding a pay rise of 12 per cent, rather than the five per cent offered by the Government.
Talks are ongoing and strike action could still be called off if a deal is reached.
It is up to individual headteachers and governors if their schools can safely stay open on March 15 and 16.
