Police are investigating a serious sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in Ulverston and are appealing for people with any information to come forward.
Detectives were notified of the sexual assault on Wednesday.
It happened at the rear of Lightburn House on Saturday February 11 between 5pm and 10pm.
The suspect is described as being a white man, aged approximately in his 30s or 40s, over 6ft, of large build and has a deep voice. He was wearing a long shirt and baggy blue jeans.
It is reported that the man guided the victim down Cross Street to the rear of Lightburn House on Brogden Street, where the assault then took place.
The victim was being supported by specialist officers, police said.
Detective Sergeant Wayne Dixon, of Furness CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may recall noticing a man matching the suspect’s description on the evening of Saturday 11 February in Cross Street and Brogden Street area.
“We are also appealing for those who may have CCTV or dashcam footage between these times in this area.
“Incidents such as this are rare and numerous enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
