Kim Moore

An award-winning poet and her brass band will be marking the finale of the Made In Maryport events which have been running this spring.

Kim Moore will be reading from her book What the Trumpet Taught Me in Maryport on Friday, March 31. Kim will intersperse the readings with playing the trumpet, accompanied by an ensemble of brass players who are coming together specially for this event.

Prior to becoming a published poet, Kim was a peripatetic music tutor. She has also been in brass bands from a young age and plays in the Barrow-based band Soul Survivors.

In 2022, Kim won the Forward Prize for her collection All The Men I Never Married. She was commissioned to write a piece by the BBC celebrating their centenary earlier this year and has recently released her latest book Are You Judging Me Yet?

The event starts at 7.30pm at Maryport Town Hall on Senhouse Street. Entry and refreshments are free.

The Made in Maryport project was funded by Historic England as part of the Historic High Streets Cultural Programme and by Maryport Town Council.
