Hundreds of properties affected by power cuts across Cumbria

Power cuts are being reported across Cumbria.

Electricity North West engineers have restored power to more than 16,900 properties following treacherous overnight conditions.

High winds topping 55mph and heavy rain hit large parts of Cumbria and Lancashire causing more than 17,600 properties to lose power across 43 separate incidents on the power network.

A total of 1,055 properties in Cumbria are currently affected.

Electricity North West is also warning of further disruptive weather which could hit the North West later this evening.

Electricity North West is reporting power cuts in the following areas:

  • Whitehaven – 41 properties affected – estimated time of restoration 5.56pm.
  • Westward, Allerdale – 91 properties affected – estimated time of restoration 6pm.
  • Rockcliffe, Carlisle – 74 properties affected – estimated time of restoration 6pm.
  • Lowside Quarter, Copeland – 22 properties affected – estimated time of restoration 2.35pm.
  • Wetheral – 99 properties affected – expected to have power restored by 6pm.
  • Denton Home & Morton South, Carlisle – 31 properties affected – estimated time of restoration 6pm.
  • Seaton, near Workington – 50 properties affected – estimated time of restoration 6pm.
  • Drigg and Carleton – 10 properties affected – estimated time of restoration 5.30pm.
