A single goal from Ben Barclay was enough to give Carlisle United the double over South Cumbrian rivals Barrow and retain their place in the play-off places.
United still have ambitions of making the automatic places in the top three with just four points separating Stevenage in third from Mansfield who are just outside the contender in eighth.
Carlisle are fifth three points ahead of Salford in sixth who are the visitors to Brunton Park on Saturday.
Paul Simpson’s side had been easy 5-1 winners over Barrow earlier in the season
The only goal came early in the 15th-minute when Barclay scrambled the ball home after Kristian Dennis had flicked on Owen Moxon’s corner.
Carlisle keeper Tomas Holy was needed to keep his side ahead and Josh Gordon, Ben Whitfield, Robbie Gotts and Elliot Newby were all close to pulling the Bluebirds back on terms.
Right at the end it looked as though Josh Kay had snatched a point for the home side but his last gasp effort struck the outside of the post.
The defeat mathematically ended Barrow’s pursuit of a play-off place but their season has been much more enjoyable this time round with Pete Wild in charge.
