The Cumbria Development team was unable to repeat the win earlier in the week against Northumberland when they went down to Cheshire 2nds XI by 105 runs at Haverigg.
Cheshire won the toss and chose to bat only to run into early trouble at 19/3 (5.5 overs) and 108/7 (31.4 overs).
They were then 121-8 before an unbeaten ninth wicket partnership of 85 between O’Shay Reddy (38no) and Dan Wilson (47no) set Cumbria a target of 207 to win.
Louis Backhouse, Josh Stirling and Declan Tyson each took two wickets for the home side.
The Development Team’s reply never really took shape with only three batsmen making double figures as wickets fell regularly.
Workington wicket-keeper Sam Bates (18) top scored on his Development Team debut with West Cumbrian team-mate Tom Fox (17) and Josh Wills (12) the next highest. The side were all out for 101 after 32.1 overs.
