Burglary

Police are increasing patrols as they continue to investigate a series of burglaries in the South Lakes area.

Over the weekend of May 6 and 7, there were reports of burglaries in the Allithwaite and Flookburgh areas.

It is believed thieves are targeting addresses while residents are away. They have been forcing their way in via rear doors and windows before entering the houses and stealing jewellery and cash.

Police are appealing for people in the areas of Allithwaite and Flookburgh who have any CCTV, doorbell camera or vehicle dash-camera footage from May 6 and 7 to contact them.

You can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it quoting log 62 of 8 May 2023 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

A police spokesman said: “Police would like to remind residents to be vigilant and ensure when they leave their houses to lock all doors and windows, install CCTV or video doorbells if possible and leave lights on where they can.”
