
Carlisle United’s play-off semi-final opponents Bradford City were far and away the best supported team in League Two in the regular season just ended.
Figures produced by the transfermarkt.co.uk website reveal that Valley Parade enjoyed an average attendance of 18,052 with over 360,000 fans watching Mark Hughes’ side’s home games.
That was almost 10,000 more on average than the second-best supported club in Stockport County – also semi-finalists – with 8,995.
Carlisle, who finished fifth in the final League Two table, were sixth in the attendance charts with an average of 6,662 as 153,230 watched the games at Brunton Park.
League champions Leyton Orient were only fifth in average attendances (7,787) while the other play-off contestants Salford City were very low down in 22nd place with an average crowd of 2,771.
The two sides splitting Bradford City/Stockport and Orient/Carlisle were Swindon Town (10th – 8,934) and AFC Wimbledon (21st – 7,567).
Barrow, who improved their League position from last season to finish ninth were down in 19th with an average crowd of 3,482 and watched by 76.650 at Holker Street over the course of the campaign.
Harrogate Town were the poorest supported club with 2,296 average crowds.
