Velo Club Cumbria’s series of evening time trials continued with Alistair Robinson picking up where he left off by winning the Whinlatter Lorton Hill Climb.
Keswick-based Robinson beat a large field of local riders by completing the course, which drops down to Lorton from Cockermouth before climbing to the summit of Whinlatter Pass, in a time of 18 minutes and 46 seconds.
Robinson beat leading road bike finisher Dean Newton by 20 seconds, who himself was narrowly ahead of local hill climb specialist Martin Mikkelsen-Barron on 19.09.
Winning Junior rider, and fourth overall, was Jude Davison in a time of 19.24 and first female was Rachael Maxwell in 26.16.
VCC’s club time trials continue on Tuesday May 23 with a 10-mile time trial on the fast Keswick 10 course alongside Bassenthwaite Lake. The sign-on is from 6pm at the car park at Beck Wythop.
