Workington Town’s home game with Midlands Hurricane on Sunday has been dedicated to former England Young Lions star Logan Holgate.
The Hensingham player died suddenly earlier this year and various fundraising initiatives at the game will be donated to a joint fund, Logan and Gary’s Lions Heart Fund.
Friends and families of Logan and his former England Lions coach, the late Gary McMahon joined together to launch a life-saving campaign in their memory. Gary also died suddenly.
Sunday’s League Two game is being used as a special charity day for Town to show their support and to raise funds for the cause which is aimed at creating heart-screening facilities across Cumbria and the North West.
John Walsh spoke to Workington Town director Graeme Peers about the day, and also about Town’s recovery from last year’s cash flow problems.
