Rain wrecks T20 programme

Rain wrecked the T20 programme in the Cumbria Cricket League last night with three scheduled games called off.

In the North there was no play between Keswick and Wigton, while at Edenside visitors Cockermouth had made 28-1 off 3.5 overs when the game with Carlisle had to be abandoned.

Lindal Moor were due to take on Furness in the South Group but no play was possible.

It meant that Thursday’s South group clash between Millom and Haverigg was the only game to go ahead as no matches were scheduled in the West group.

Millom had elected to bat and they rattled-up 192-5 in their 20 overs to set their neighbours an imposing target. In the end Haverigg finished with 123-4.

There were runs at the top of the order for Millom as they made a flying start through skipper Graham Dawson (58), Madhav Kaushik (43) and Robert Thompson (38). Sam Huddleston was the pick of the Haverigg bowlers with 3-24.

Haverigg also had runs from their early batsmen, led by Jordan Postlethwaite (52no), Dale Graham (39) and Umar Waheed (23) but fell behind the required rate and trailed by 69 runs at the end of their overs.

Paul O’Callaghan took 2-15 for Millom from his four overs.
