Stagecoach is making changes to West Cumbria’s bus timetable.
The bus company is set to scrap some services, make changes to running times and increase the number of buses running on Sundays.
Due to ‘low patronage’ revisions are being made to the early morning and late evening 30 and 300 buses, as well as the early morning Saturday services – which includes some journeys in Carlisle.
The changes will begin on Saturday 22 July and affect the 61, 62, 63, 67 and 104 in Carlisle and the 1, 2, 3, 3A, 29, 30, 50, 51 and 52 in West Cumbria.
Services will generally set off a few minutes later or earlier through the week and some stops will no longer be served the same as they were previously.
Some Saturday services including West Cumbria’s 50 bus will also start an hour later in the day.
Under the new timetable, the 30 service from Maryport to Thornhill/Frizington will also now serve Lakes College on Mondays to Fridays between 7.30am and 6.16pm. Outside of these times, the bus will continue to operate along the A597.
Carlisle’s 400 service to Silloth will also no longer serve Dobies Garden Centre at Orton Grange.
Stagecoach also plans to double the frequency of the 300 bus from Workington to Carlisle and extend most Sunday journeys to start from Thornhill, Egremont and Whitehaven.
Buses will leave Whitehaven for Carlisle hourly from 7.05am to 4.05pm, with a last bus at 6.05pm, returning from Carlisle hourly until 6.10pm, then 8.10pm.
The new timetables can be found on Stagecoach’s website here.
