Workington Comets’ Luke Harrison steps up to the Championship for the first time tonight.
Now that he’s 16, Harrison can ride at that level and he is included in the Redcar Bears side who visit Glasgow in the Cab Direct Championship.
The Teesside outfit were 48-42 winners at Ashfield earlier this season to secure progression in the Cup.
Redcar boss Gavin Parr said: ““Luke and his Dad are very keen to test Championship level speedway and after Glasgow we will reassess our options for our upcoming fixtures.”
Harrison’s Workington team-mate Connor Bailey is a former Glasgow rider and will be keen to impress again after impressing in that Cup meeting.
Parr said: “The way Connor and Danyon Hume went at Glasgow last time means they will be fearing us turning up, which is always a good thing, although this time I think the track will be different to our previous visit.
“Nevertheless, we will be going there full of confidence after our last performance at Ashfield.”
Bailey and Harrison will be back at Northside tomorrow when the Comets entertain Leicester Lion Cubs in the KO Cup.
