Work on a £1.5 million West Cumbrian flood scheme is set to continue.

Contractors are working to divert the water main at Bragg Beck culvert in Flimby on behalf of Cumberland Council.

Once this is completed, work will be carried out to complete the culvert, install the Penny Gill diversion culvert and the building of a flood storage bund at Penny Gill.

The A596 will continue to be accessible during the works on the Bragg Beck culvert but traffic signal control will be in place.

The council is also improving sections of the A596.

The road, from Prospect to Aspatria will be closed from tomorrow evening, Friday July 14 for resurfacing. Work will take place overnight, and the road will be closed while it is carried out every night until Thursday, July 20.

From Thursday July 20 to Wednesday July 26, from Wigton to Thursby, the road will be closed during the evening, with a rolling road closure.
