A man has appeared in court accused of an assault on a fellow guest at the Center Parcs holiday village near Penrith.

Kris Moore, 40, faces one charge. This alleges that he assaulted another man, causing him actual bodily harm.

It is alleged that an assault occurred inside a lodge at the Whinfell complex on September 6 last year.

Moore appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court today. During a short hearing he pleaded not guilty to the allegation when it was put to him by a legal advisor.

Prosecutor Lee Dacre told magistrates that an assault by Moore was said to have involved punching and an alleged headbutt.

However, the court heard Moore was putting forward self-defence as his explanation.

He is due to stand trial at the magistrates’ court on October 23 with a number of witnesses due to give evidence at a hearing scheduled to last between four and five hours.

In the meantime Moore, of Ruswarp Lane, Whitby, North Yorkshire, was granted unconditional bail by the magistrates.
