Carlisle United have again turned to last season’s loan squad to recruit another player for the upcoming League One campaign.
The official Carlisle Utd website has announced that Notts Forest defender Fin Back is returning to Brunton Park, on a season-long loan.
Back, 20, made 19 appearances for the Blues in his first loan spell away from his parent club last season, and became a real favourite with the fans.
His time at Brunton Park was cut short by injury when surgery was required for a nasty hamstring tear.
A right back who can play more advanced roles, his father is Neil Back, who played in three Rugby World Cup tournaments for England, picking up a winner’s medal in 2003.
He first joined the Forest Academy as an eight-year-old and signed his first professional contract in 2019.
He was highly thought of by Steve Cooper, making five appearances for the first-team during the 2021/22 season, which included three outings during their Championship promotion push.
Loaned out to Carlisle to gain more first team experience, Forest and Cooper have been well-pleased at his treatment and progress with the Blues, hence a second year on loan.
Carlisle have signed three of last year’s loanees on permanent deals – Alfie McCalmont, Ben Barclay and Jack Robinson – with Back now returning, but as a loanee again.
