Carlisle City boss Jim Nichols was disappointed his side didn’t have more to show from their opening Northern League game at Tow Law.
It finished 1-1 after City had “battered” their hosts in the second-half but couldn’t take advantage of several opportunities that came their way.
“We were up the slop and against a strong wind in the first-half but dug in well and I think it was a fairly even 45 minutes.
“We were disappointed with their goal from a corner but got level before half-time.
“Then in the second-half we completely dominated the game, created chances but I have to say their goalkeeper pulled off a number of excellent saves.
“I suppose this early in the season, over three months without a competitive game, lads can be a bit rusty but I hope that can be improved over the coming games.
“Certaoinly compared to last season where we weren’t creating enough, this was a step forward.
“We are at home on Tuesday night to Sunderland RCA so we are hoping to get the first win on the board.”
Sunderland RCA crashed 7-1 at home on Saturday to Newcastle Benfield.
Ben Urwin had given Tow Law the lead from a 28th minute corner while Dan Kirkup scored City’s equaliser 11 minutes later.
