After playing a major role in Whitehaven’s fine come back victory over Sheffield earlier today, Australian Ryan King has confirmed he is staying at the LEL Arena for another year.
An Italian international, King re-joined the club earlier this season having previously played for Haven in 2021 and 2022.
For this season he had opted to sign for Championship rivals Halifax but was short of game time and not enjoying the experience so Haven were able to do a deal with the Panthers and bring him back to west Cumbria.
Since returning to the club King, originally a forward but who has also deputised in the halves, has made 14 appearances scoring eight times.
The eighth try came earlier this afternoon to clinch the 32-20 win over Sheffield Eagles after they had been 14-0 down inside 21 minutes.
After putting pen to paper King said: “I’m delighted to sign a new 12 month contract with the club. I’d like to thank all the coaches, the board and the fans for making my stay in West Cumbria a great experience and for making me love my footy again. Up the Haven.”
