Cartmel Racecourse is set for a rip-roaring end to the season over August bank holiday weekend with two days of racing.
The action kicks off on Saturday August 26 with Cartmel Cup Day with visitors expected to be out in force, while Monday August 28 sees the Season Finale wrapping up the 2023 season at the South Cumbrian course.
The course, which has a reputation for its fun and colourful atmosphere has already welcomed over 35,000 people so far this year, attracting in visitors from across the region.
Over the weekend racegoer can make the most of the range of locally produced food and beverage available including Cartmel’s famous Sticky Toffee Pudding, woodfired pizzas and beers from Bowness Bay Brewery.
Alternatively, visitors are welcome to bring their own food and drink to create their own picnic or barbecue.
As usual, there’s also a funfair for families to enjoy and ample space for children to run around and play games, before the all-important races begin.
Gates open at 9am and the Louis Roederer Restaurant opens from 11.30am, plus as a new feature for 2023, visitors can book a space in the Paddock Lawn Tipi and enjoy its private bar and excellent views of the home straight.
Racecourse director Geraldine McKay said: “We’re expecting a real celebration over the bank holiday weekend as everyone comes together for the season finale.
“It’s been a wonderful season and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed seeing old faces and welcoming new ones – both on and off the track.
“Whether you’re looking for a way to keep the kids entertained before they head back to school, or you just fancy a flutter – we hope you’ll join us for a fantastic weekend at Cartmel.”
