Saturday sees the start of the Cumberland County League season with 18 teams competing across two divisions with nine in each.
In the Premier Division, champions Wigton Harriers will be aiming to carry on last season’s momentum which took them to the title.
However, it was a particularly tight finish, and both Gosforth and Maryport Athletic will be attempting to go one step further after just missing out on goal difference.
Newly promoted clubs Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves and Carlisle City Development will be looking to carry on the good work that got them there and compete at the top level equally well.
Aspatria, Unisun Athletic, Whitehaven Miners Social and Workington Reds Reserves will doubtless be aiming to improve on last season’s respective finishes.
In Division One, Keswick will be making their debut in the Cumberland County League after moving across from the Westmorland League.
Dearham United are also new members too while Mirehouse are back competing in the County League after they were absent last season.
Cockermouth will be looking to bounce back at the first time of asking following relegation from the Premier Division last season while Bransty Rangers will look to compete at the top end again this season improving on last term’s second place finish.
Other teams competing in Division One and looking for a successful season are Silloth, Whitehaven AFC Reserves, Whitehaven Miners Social Development and Windscale Reserves.
