Abbeytown are the winners of the Andrea Buggy Summer Trophy, a keenly contested competition for county women’s teams.
In an entertaining final at Borough Park last night they beat Whitehaven 2-1 to lift the trophy.
All the goals came in the first half with Kate Brown notching both for Abbeytown.
The opener came on ten minutes but Whitehaven hit back with a 30th minute equaliser from Scarlett McAvoy.

Then just before half-time Brown scored her second, a superbly struck volley into the top corner – worthy of winning any final.
It was end-to-end in the second-half with both keepers excelling, making top class important saves.
Paul Harrison, the Abbeytown manager said: “It was a great game to watch with both teams playing exciting football and really neither team deserved to lose.

“Both teams have a very young squad, probably averaging 18/19 and using the Summer League for developing players for the Lancashire League.
“This year the quality in the Summer League was fantastic and a great advert for the Cumberland FA’s competition and women’s football in general.”
