It was another great Sunday for Workington’s identical Hardy twins as their football careers continued to blossom.
Rio scored both goals in Rangers 2-0 win at Glasgow City while in Cyprus, Steffi scored as Apollon Limassol coasted to a 7-0 romp at Omonia Nicosia.
Rangers stay top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League while Apollon Limassol stay in pole position of the Cyprus Women’s 1st Division.
The Workington-raised twins have been playing football together since before they could walk.
Now aged 26, their careers have taken them from Cumbria to play at Blackburn Rovers, in the United States, in Iceland and then in Cyprus for Apollon.
For most of their career they have always played for the same sides at the same time but more recently they took different directions.
Rio left Cyprus in 2021 to join Coventry United and then Durham Women before linking up with Rangers for this season.
Steffi stayed in Cyprus, where she has been captain of the successful Apollon side.
