Two county sides had their league games called off on Saturday because of frozen pitches.
Kendal Town were due to host Irlam Town in the North West Counties Premier Division but the drop in temperatures made the pitch unplayable.
It was a similar story at Gillford Park where City were due to host West Allotment Celtic in Northern League Division One.
Manager Jim Nichols said: “The pitch was rock hard and there was no chance of the sun getting on it enough. The referee came and looked and called it off so West Allotment were stopped from travelling.”
City will be hoping the weather improves ahead of next Saturday’s game when they are due to entertain Charnock Richard in the FA Vase.
“I went to watch them on Tuesday night and they are a decent side so we are expecting a tough game. But we’ve always said we fancy ourselves against anybody at our level when we play them at home.”
Charnock Richard are mid-table, 11th of 24 and yesterday had a 0-0 draw at 8th-placed West Didsbury and Chorlton.
Kendal Town entertain West Didsbury and Chorlton in the League on Tuesday, and they will also be looking for a quicker thaw in temperatures.
The big shock in the North West Counties was bottom club’s Skelmersdale 2-1 win over promotion-chasing Bury.
The Shakers are second, five points behind Wythenshawe while Kendal have dropped to fifth but a win on Tuesday could haul them back into the top three.
Finally, if Jim Nichols wants another look at Charnock Richard before Saturday, they are in Cumbria on Tuesday night. They visit Holker Old Boys in the Macron Cup.
