A Cumbrian student has been rewarded for his performance by a leading accountancy firm.

Isaac Dalton, who was a pupil at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Penrith, was awarded the Lamont Pridmore Prize for Economics and Business at the school’s recent presentation ceremony.

The prize recognises excellence in the fields of business and economics among the school’s students. Issac, who studied economics, was chosen by the school to receive the award for his performance in the last academic year.

Head of economics at QEGS, Kate Judge, said: “Isaac was an excellent A-level student in economics. He worked consistently hard and always engaged fully in lessons, sharing his ideas and participating in debates very effectively.”

Trevor Iredale, of Lamont Pridmore, presented Issac with an engraved glass award and book vouchers ahead of the prize-giving ceremony at Penrith Methodist Church.

Issac is studying economics and history at the University of Manchester.

Graham Lamont, chief executive at Lamont Pridmore, said: “Congratulations to Isaac for his fantastic achievement.

“We’re incredibly proud to sponsor this award to help recognise and reward young talent in Cumbria.  Encouraging and supporting young people is so important to help them realise their potential and create the business leaders of tomorrow for our region.

“Thank you to Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for encouraging our sponsorship of this award.”
