Barrow Raiders completed their pre-season build-up with a third win in as many warm-up games when they beat Hunslet 16-6.
It was a hard-fought contest in very poor playing conditions as the wind and rain made it difficult for both sets of players.
Hunslet had the wind behind them in the first half and the first 20 minutes were virtually played in the Barrow half.
The League One side had plenty of possession and territory but couldn’t break through a strong Barrow defence.
In fact it was Barrow who went in front on 28 minutes when Ryan Johnston chipped the ball through and James Greenwood was first there to touch down. Ryan Shaw belted over the conversion into the wind.
Three minutes before the break Hunslet drew level, Jude Ferreira found space near the home line to dart through and crash over with Matty Beharrell converting.
Barrow regained the lead eight minutes into the second half when Greg Burke barged his way over the line to get the ball down and Shaw converted.
It was a slog in the conditions after that with few chances but Barrow clinched the game six minutes from the end when Matt Costello went in after Hunslet had been left short on numbers in defence. Shaw missed the conversion attempt.
