In Division Two of the Carlisle and District Snooker League South End Club had a clear cut 6-0 whitewash of Qzone Originals.

Frame one saw Andy Foster survive a clearance attempt by Gordon Berry, who potted three reds and colours but narrowly missed the yellow with everything on. Andy eventually won 68-40.

In frame two the result hinged on the final brown which saw Martin Milner beat Peter Lowrie 42-27 to double the South End lead.

Frame three between Stuart Telford and Elliot Lowrie culminated in a scrappy finish. It was 65-54 to Stuart with Elliot unlucky in the end to lose after fighting his way back into the lead.

The fourth frame between Harry Ruddick and Dan Sanderson saw both potting balls well early on, but failing to go on and score substantially.

A low scoring game ended 49-29 in Harry’s favour.

Finally Tim Ward and Matt Lowrie faced off in an absorbing game.

Matt scored first but after a safety exchange Tim compiled a nice 34 (which is now the joint highest break in Division Two alongside his team mate Mark Taylor) breaking down on a red along the top cushion.

From there Matt chipped away, with Tim only adding the odd red until they were neck and neck.

Matt fouled on the pink giving Tim a seven point lead heading for the colours but was first in with nine points.

The blue followed before Tim was able to roll a straight pink into a middle pocket at an acute angle, and the black along the side cushion for a rare whitewash.

Other Division Two scores were: St Margaret Mary’s 6 Eastriggs 0; Ex Club B 5 RAOB B 1; Conservative Club 1 SECC D 6.

Division One action included a hard-fought contest in which InterQzone edged out The Rock 4-2.

Frame One saw Peter Stanyer return to action after a long lay off due to injury for the home team.

In his first match back against Tony Armstrong he was always in control of the frame after a 21 break mid-frame, which Tony found impossible to claw back.

The second frame was all about Paul Cowing from The Rock. He consistently scored each time he came to the table (including a 33 break), running out a winner by 70-26 against Simon Towns.

Frame three was the main match of the night between the two No.1’s for their respective teams.

In a tight match, home player Mike Griffiths played really well at the important stages of the frame against Mally Lancaster, including a 22 break, to win the frame 65-31.

Frame four between Michael Waring and Ste Little was a little one sided, with Ste levelling up the match score to 2-2 with a very comfortable 68-30 win.

Michael commented afterwards: “He potted me off the table!”

In the decider, InterQzone’s Ryan Ridding played well to beat Neil Armstrong 77-6, including with a string of teen breaks followed by a 24 to secure the bonus point for winning the match.

Other Division One scores: The Rock A 4 Longtown 2; RAOB A 2 Ex Club C 5; Qzone 4 SECC A 1; Annan BlueBell 5 DH Qzone 1.
