Workington scored their sixth draw in the last seven home games when the shared a goal-less encounter with Whitby Town.
It was, however, a welcome clean sheet for the Cumbrians especially as they played the final 27 minutes with just 10 men.
Sam Smith was sent off for a second booking and will miss next week’s trip to in-form Hyde United.
This was an entertaining contest for 55 minutes, with both teams playing good football and creating chances, but it then descended into a feisty and scrappy conclusion.
Both sides had chances in the first half with Whitby keeper Shane Bland producing a fine save to deny teenager Kitt Nelson.

When the ball fell to Nelson again the Preston loanee drove his shot over the bar.
At the other end Nathan Thomas was also through one-on-one and Jim Atkinson came to Workington’s rescue with a timely block.
Whitby had started the second-half on the front foot and Smith had to produce a goal-line clearance to deny Thomas again.

But then it became a battle and after Smith was sent-off Workington had to dig in and had to re-organise further at the back when Niall Brookwell had to retire with an injury.
Brad Hubbold and Steven Rigg, neither of whom are fully fit, were used along with Finn Wallbank yet it was the home side who could have won the game late on.
Bland produced a brilliant save, throwing himself across his line to block a pile-driver from Workington’s top goal-scorer Dav Symington.

Then, into the three minutes of added time, home keeper Atkinson took a quick free kick from a yard inside his own half as he spotted Bland off his line.
But his Whitby opposite number was back and in position to catch the ball before it dropped under the bar,
Cieran Casson was Workington’s man of the match, not for the first time since his return to the starting line-up, followed closely by Jordan Little.
Manager Danny Grainger talked to John Walsh after the game and you can hear his thoughts below:
