Owen Moxon’s refusal to sign a new contract with Carlisle United has sparked an end of window rush for his signature.
Two Championship sides are reported to be keen on the 26-year-old midfielder who will be leaving Brunton Park at the end of the season when his present contract runs out.
The transfer window closes at 11pm on Thursday, February 1, and there seems to be genuine interest in securing his services before then.
According to Alan Nixon, via his Patreon page, both Portsmouth and Blackpool are going to be the main rivals for his signature.
Blackpool made an offer during the summer window but nothing came of it and since then Moxon has not committed himself to an extension of his Carlisle contract.
At the time Blackpool were said to have offered around £300,000 for the former Annan midfielder but the Cumbrians were claimed to want three times that amount.
Moxon was the star player when Carlisle won promotion last season but hasn’t been their stand-out performer this time round.
He has played in 26 games this season with three goals and three assists.
However, Nixon’s revelation will be put in context by Carlisle fans.
Last week he suggested that Carlisle were in the chase for Fleetwood striker Jack Marriott but manager Paul Simpson went on record later by saying he had never expressed an interest in signing him.
