
Following on from last year’s slightly disorganised competition, this years Papa Johns end of season Cup fixtures have been announced well in advance!
Several Cumbrian clubs are involved in the various competitions with a full fixture list for them start6ing on April 13th.
In the Championship Shield Penrith have drawn two home games against teams from outside their league and one away fixture against Anselmians who are also in Regional 1 North West.
They start at Winter’s Park on April 13 against Pontefract before going to Anselmians on April 20 and concluding the group with a home game on April 27 against Stoke-on-Trent.
Kendal are in the Championship Plate and they also have two home games with Stockport (April 13) and Blaydon (April 27).
In between they visit Alnwick (April 20) which will see Dan Bowman and his Kendal side going head-to-head with fellow Cumbrian Tommy Borthwick who is head coach at Alnwick.
The other Cumbrian clubs contesting the Papa John competitions are in straight knock-out from the start on April 13.
Borthwick’s old club Aspatria travel to Vale of Lune in the Regional Two North Plate.
In Regional Two Shield Keswick have a bye in the first round while Cockermouth have a reasonably short trek to Kirkby Lonsdale.
St Benedict’s have a home game in the Counties 1 Championship against Sunderland; Wigton host Medicals in the Counties 1 Plate while Creighton travel to Bolton in the Shield.
Championship Finals at each level (Regional 1, Regional 2, Counties 1, Counties 2 & Counties 3 and below) will be held at Twickenham Stadium across the 11th and 12th May. Finals for other competitions will be held at other high-quality venues across the country.
