There’s no chequered flag for former Workington Comets rider Paul Bowen on his TV debut!
Bowen has been fired from BBC One show The Apprentice after his team were beaten in a challenge to create and market cheesecakes.
The director of Chorley-based Bowen Pies has raced extensively for Belle Vue in the National Development League and for the Comets in 2015 and 2017.
He was installed as sub-team leader of the boys’ team for the task – but they suffered defeat for the second week running.
Bowen faced criticism for pitching a chocolate cheesecake concept to a corporate client whose branding was based around fruit and vegetables, whilst the opposing team secured a more lucrative deal in this section of the task.
Confirming his decision, Lord Alan Sugar said: “I admire you for admitting your mistakes, but there were simply too many mistakes, and so it is with regret Paul, you’re fired.”
