Kendal did it again – a third successive 1-0 win and their sixth North West Counties victory in a row.
The Mintcakes needed a winner from Patrick Allington in the third minute of time added on to maintain their push for a promotion play-off place.
Manager Jimmy Marshall reiterated that he is not that type of manager who tots up 1-0 wins – but at the moment is happy to take them.
He said: “To be truthful we had enough chances to have won three games and I thought we had missed out until Pat grabs the late goal.
“I had one or two things to say at half-time because I didn’t think we were at our best, I thought we could play a lot better than that.
“It didn’t help that we missed another penalty. I think that’s five in a row that we haven’t been able to score.
“At the end of the day, though, this is a great group of players. Pat had come back but had to start on the bench because everyone had played well in mid-week.
“That’s what we are trying to instil over the closing weeks, when you get a chance you aim to keep the shirt.
“Pat came on and scored the winner and we actually used five subs and I think they all contributed to the victory.
“There are still some important games to come and although it’s an old cliché I’m just looking at taking one game at a time – starting with Friday night when we go to AFC Liverpool.”
