There’s more bad news in the Papa John’s Trophy competition for a Cumbrian side.
Kendal, Penrith and Kirkby Lonsdale have all experienced clubs pulling out of matches against them.
Now Wigton have been hit, too, as Medicals have pulled out of their game at Lowmoor Road net week.
Wigton coach David Warwick said: “It’s really frustrating and I received an email off the RFU to say that Medicals had withdrawn.
“I’ve tried about 25 clubs to try and fix up a friendly bit nobody is interested. Keswick are my last hope as they’ve got a bye in their side of the competition.
“We haven’t played a competitive RU fixture since February 20 at Hawcoat Park – so how frustrating is that ahead of a national competition.
“As I understand it we are at home to Wetherby now in the next round and they are second in Yorkshire 1 with a chance of winning it this weekend so will be a strong side.”
Wetherby are second in the table, a point behind leaders Bradford Salem going into the final games today.
Salem go to fifth-placed West Leeds while Wetherby have a home game against Beverley who are seventh in the table.
