On the last weekend of the season Keswick Ladies’ 1st’s had a home game against Ambleside and finished 5-0 winners.
Keswick are destined to finish second in the League again while Ambleside are down in tenth.
The hosts soon had the visitors’ defence working hard and after only four minutes, Kat Miller was perfectly placed to turn in a pass from Phoebe Graham which was too good for the Ambleside defence and keeper to keep-out.
After 13 minutes it was Graham again causing problems for Ambleside as she beat three defenders and the keeper to put the ball in the net.
Ambleside came back strongly with Eirinn Newcombe forcing a couple of good saves from Heather Ingram in the Keswick goal. Some good midfield running from Emma Morris and Sarah Earl created space for the visitors to try to exploit.
However the Ambleside attack was thwarted by the Keswick defence time after time with Kara Websdale spotting the threats almost before they materialised.
Rosie Lawler was running at the Ambleside defence from deep, getting into the D on several occasions, only to be tackled or shoot wide.
On 29 minutes, however, she wasn’t to be denied and scored the third Keswick goal for a 3-0 half-time scoreline.
The second half produced more Keswick pressure from the off and Amanda Faulkner for Ambleside did well to stop a couple of Keswick breaks.
But in the 8th minute of the half Neve Parsons got her stick onto a shot from Kat Miller and beat the keeper.
Ambleside went close from a short corner, with Websdale having to duck, and Heather Ingram beaten, but the ball went just wide.
The score stayed at 4-0 until the 28th minute when Parsons scored her second to round-off a confident Keswick performance.
