The last game of the season for Keswick’s men’s first team was a visit from Alderley Edge seconds and the Lakes side enjoyed a winning, 3-0 finish.
After a slow start to the season Keswick have put together a string of results which saw them finish 7th in the league, with their opponents next to bottom of the table.
As the match got going both teams looked intent on positive forward movement with the visitors using their wide players to good effect. This created some space for their main attacking threat Sam Redfern to try to break down the Keswick defence.
Unfortunately for him, the Keswick defence was working well as a unit, giving no quarter to the visitors and quickly turning defence into attack.

The Alderley keeper was in inspired form, saving numerous times when it looked like Keswick must take the lead. Not to be outdone Keswick’s keeper Chris Bond also pulled off a couple of good saves when Alderley managed to get a shot away in the Keswick D.

Keswick’s best chance of the half came from the stick of Tom Morgan, who shot from a short corner on 19 minutes, beating the advancing defence and diving keeper, only for his shot to go inches wide.
A couple of minutes later, Ben Harrison went on a mazy run from just inside the Alderley half, only for the keeper to make another great save diving full length to deflect the ball away, and past Jack Chippendale who had made a good run to the back post.

After the goalless first half the second produced more of the same from Keswick, but this time their persistence paid off.
After eight minutes Ewan Styles slotted the ball between the keeper and defender Nick Young for the opening goal.

The floodgates could have opened but Alderley responded well with Redfern forcing a good save from Bond in the Keswick goal.
As the half wore on Keswick dominated, but were unable to get further ahead for added security until the 31st minute when it looked like Mark Proctor would surely score, only for the keeper to deflect his shot.
Fortunately for Keswick it went to Rob Cook, who beat two defenders and the keeper with his shot for a 2-0 lead.
Proctor then made up for his previous miss with Keswick’s 3rd on 33 minutes, this time giving the keeper no chance.Â
