Cumbria are still in the NCCA Twenty20 finals – but only just.
Play was stopped early because of rain and will resume today at 10am with Cumbria in trouble against Oxfordshire.
With just 2.1 overs left in the first semi-final, Cumbria are 96-8 chasing 127 for victory.
Although Freddie Fallows (30 off 27 balls) gave Cumbria a good start, support has been short of any significance with skipper Matthew Sempill (12), Harry Singh (11) and Nico Watt (10) not staying long.
When rain finally forced off the players Cumbria had the returning Graham Dawson (6no) and Ed Moulton (3no) together and needing to score 31 off 13 deliveries for an unlikely victory. Sam Sharp is the last batsman.
Earlier, after being put in to bat, Oxfordshire closed on 126-8 led by Jonathan Cater (34) and Joe Gordon (27).
Fallows was the most successful Cumbrian bowler with 3-26 with debutant Roman Walker of Leicestershire taking 2-35 from his four overs.
Today was always put aside as the reserve day, and after the Cumbria game is completed Berkshire will take on Staffordshire in the second semi-final with the final to follow.
