Keswick added another trophy to their collection when they won the Whitehaven Cup after they beat Maryport Athletic 4-2 on penalties when the final had finished 1-1.
With both clubs trying to complete the treble, it was Keswick who took a first half lead through Alfie West, however Maryport’s Joe Hetherington equalised several minutes before full time. After a penalty shoot-out it was Keswick who were victorious to lift their third trophy.
This latest victory rounds off a fantastic debut season for Keswick in the Cumberland County League as they also won the Divisional Cup and the Division One title.
Although they lost out on this one, Maryport have also had a great season after they were crowned champions of the Premier Division and were also victorious in the Benevolent Cup final.
Although they just missed out on the Division One trophy, Cockermouth did win the Conway Cup and Whitehaven Miners Social were victorious in the Ken Glover Memorial Cup.
Another season has now been completed in the Cumberland County League and it is time for a much needed break for the clubs before they go again in August.
