A leading independent Cumbrian ophthalmic clinic has welcomed a new colleague.

Consultant ophthalmic surgeon Mark Stoddart joins Gerard Ainsworth at Lakeland Vision in Penrith.

Mark’s appointment brings the Lakeland Vision team to eight staff.

With a fellowship in ocular plastics, Mark will be holding clinics seeing patients with a wide range of conditions including corrective plastic surgery around the eye to treat minor eye lid conditions, cataracts, laser refractive surgery, lens refractive surgery and glaucoma.

Originally from Dumfries and Galloway, Mark has worked around the north of England and Scotland and has established an excellent reputation.

Gerard said: “Mark and I have known each other for several years now and I’ve always admired and shared his commitment to personalised, individual patient-centered care. Mark is exceptionally good at putting patients at ease and both of these qualities are at the heart of Lakeland Vision.”

Lakeland Vision, founded in 2008, offers patients from around Cumbria and the wider North West cutting edge procedures.

It performs eye surgery including the removal of cataracts, managing long term conditions such as diabetic eye disease and glaucoma, and removing lumps and bumps.
