Stuart McKinstry, a Carlisle United target for some time now, has been offered a new deal by Queen’s Park.
The 21-year-old winger moved back to Scotland after four years with Leeds United and has shone in the Championship across the border.
But, according to the Daily Record, McKinstry will become a free agent at the end of the month and Queen’s Park are keen to get the talented winger tied up again before the Blues and other Scottish clubs swoop.
For as well as the persistent link with Carlisle United, it is believed that Dunfermline Athletic and Partick Thistle are also keen on acquiring his services for next season.
Queen’s Park have offered him a fresh two-year contract as they want to get the deal agreed as quickly as possible to keep him with the club.
McKinstry made two senior appearances for Leeds. His debut came as a substitute in a 0-0 EFL Cup draw with Fulham in September 2021, with McKinstry scoring the winning penalty as Leeds won the penalty shoot-out 6-5.
McKinstry made his Premier League debut for Leeds two months later as a second half substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
While at Leeds, Wishaw-born McKinstry spent time at Mortherwell on loan and scored four times in 21 games.
