Kenny Brown, a popular figure in Cumbrian football, has been appointed as head of academy recruitment by Carlisle United.
Brown, 63, is based in Carlisle and has been academy scout for Newcastle United for the last nine years.
He has had previous coaching spells at Gretna FC 2008, Annan Athletic, Workington Reds and Northbank FC and worked in United’s academy as a coach in 2002.
He holds his Talent Identification Level 2 and is also a UEFA B qualified coach.
Academy manager Steven Rudd said: “We are delighted that Kenny is joining us. He is a great appointment as we look to improve all areas of the academy.
“He already has a very good knowledge of the local area in terms of teams, players and coaches, and has a wealth of knowledge regarding player development and talent identification.
“With his experience in football, football knowledge and determined character, we are confident he will succeed in what is a very important position as we build for the future.”
