Workington A continue relentless form

Workington A continued their relentless form in the West Cumbria Fours League with a 7-0 home win against Seaton.

The leaders of the Whitehaven Trophies-sponsored competition are now nine points clear at the top, and they have a game in hand of their nearest rivals.

Maryport, who are giving chase, are enjoying their best season for many years and their latest success was a 5-2 home success against Cleator Moor to remain in second place. 

Other results from Friday were – Whitehaven B 2, Workington B 5; Fitz Park 7. Vulcan Park 0.

League standings (Games played and points): Workington A 6-39, Maryport 7-30, Whitehaven 6-24, Fitz Park 5-22, Cleator Moor 6-20, Seaton 6-18, Workington B 5-14, Vulcan Park 6-14, Whitehaven B 7-8.

In the West Cumbria Mixed Triples League five preliminary rounds of the Knock-Out Cup took place last Tuesday and there were some comprehensive victories.

Maryport, at Harris Park B, and Wigton at Vulcan Park, both scored whitewash victories returning home with 9-0 results in their favour.

The other scores were: Seascale 2, Croft 7; Whitehaven A 2, Cleator Moor 7; Workington 5, Egremont 4.
