Workington Reds Budget Booster has officially closed after a month with a remarkable total of just under £21,000.

Both the board and the manager have paid tribute to the fans who have contributed, saying it will make a big difference to team-strengthening plans.

Vice chairman Richard Lewthwaite said: “We asked the fans to back the new management team with our Budget Booster and they’ve certainly done that over the past month.

“The unbelievable final total this year is £20,955 and I’m sure all the supporters will have seen what the manager says about that amazing figure and how it will make a difference to his recruitment plans.

“As a Board we’d also like to place on record our thanks to each and every one of the fans who made a donation.”

Manager Mark Fell still has several places to fill in his squad and says the Budget Booster will certainly make a difference to the quality of player he can bring to the club.

“Myself and my staff have been blown away by the response to the Budget booster from the people in the town and further afield who have really got behind us.

“It’s a huge thank you from me and my staff and we are already looking at different targets which wouldn’t have been possible without the backing of the Budget Booster,” said Fell.
