
Former Workington Comets rider Charles Wright helped Redcar pull off an incredible comeback to win 46-44 at Edinburgh and give their Cab Direct Championship play-off hopes a massive boost.
The Bears captain Wright (15+1) combined with Danny King (paid maximum13+2) for two crucial 5-1s in Heats 13 and 15 as the visitors fought back from eight points down with four races remaining.
With the aggregate point also secured, the result moves the Teesside outfit up to fifth in the table, level on points with Workington albeit having raced more meetings.
Kye Thomson scored 10+2 for the Monarchs, whose second home defeat in the league came as a major blow.
Workington were looking to win at home to Plymouth this afternoon, thereby collecting the aggregate point and improving their title bid but the meeting was postponed.
